Who oversees on-site wastewater?
Wayne County’s On-Site Wastewater System page explains that the department regulates septic system installation, collection, treatment and disposal to protect public health. Goldsboro Septic is not affiliated with the county.
Where do I start for repairs or changes?
The county’s Forms & Reference Materials page lists an Improvements Permit Application, a Relocation/Existing System Application and a Repair Permit Application. Their presence does not determine which approval your project requires. Ask Environmental Health about your property and proposed scope before alterations.
What should I gather?
Have the property location, available permit documents, system sketch, pumping history and a description of the proposed work ready. Ask the county how to locate available records and what current application process applies.
Do city limits settle the question?
No street or ZIP code alone proves a property has a septic system. Confirm whether the property uses an on-site system or public sewer before requesting septic work. Coverage throughout Wayne County is provider-dependent.
